It is in this rare habitat that the butterfly Panaxia Quadripunctaria makes its appearance from mid-June to end of September. The Museum of Natural History of Rhodes operates at the entrance to the valley. There is also a butterfly incubator-exhibit with live exhibits, a library and a modern conceptual and botanical laboratory.
